Glendronach Whiskey

For this project we had to showcase Glendronach's single malt scotch whiskey in a poster campaign.

Glendronach is a scotish whiskey brand founded in 1826 by James Allardice (also spelt Allardyce and Allardes), and almost completely destroyed by fire a decade later. After the rebuild, Allardice - a colourful character - is rumoured to have accidentally ensured the popularity of his whisky in Edinburgh in the 1840s by gifting a quantity of it to some local prostitutes after a failed sales trip to the city.

Insight

Scottish and Celtic history is not well known despite the long history of drinking culture, their society despite seeming barbaric in the past was actually very advanced, with matriarchal practices, valuing women and men equally.

Problem

Drinking is associated with negative perceptions of glamorous violence, addictions, deaths, and debauchery.

Solution

Tie in the long Scottish drinking history from reigning from the Celtics and what drinking meant historically in those societies.
